The spectacular sunsets I witnessed from Cable Beach are etched upon my memory forevermore. Everyday, I´d join the groups of backpackers slowly wandering down towards the beach as the sun descended. We would sit in hushed silence and take in the breath taking views, as the sun slowly melted into the ocean, setting off the skies with the most amazing colours. No sunset was ever the same and every day was a new experience.

Nina's experience was in Broome, Australia. She went on 07 of May 2006 for 1 day. She went for tourism, beach, adventure, peace & quiet, get closer to nature. Nina went with just me. She got there and around by car or van, walking, airplane or helicopter. It is nina's favorite place.
Having stayed on longer in Broome than I had planned, I was fortunate enough to still be there for the Stairway to the Moon – a natural phenomena, which occurs as the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats at Roebuck Bay, when the tide is at its lowest, creating the illusion of stairs leading up to the moon.
A group of us caught the crowded, free backpacker bus from Cable Beach into the town centre. As the sky grew darker, we saw hundreds of flying foxes taking flight, in a scene reminiscent of Gotham city.
We were headed for The Mangrove Hotel, which has a beautiful garden overlooking Roebuck Bay. Having armed ourselves with bottles of TED´s (Tooheys Extra Dry), and battled our way through the throngs of expectant onlookers, we stood at the edge of the hotel terrace, with the best view in town.
An Aboriginal musician began to play the Didgeridoo and then we saw it and everyone fell silent. The tip of a huge, bright orange moon had begun to rise from the ocean. The moon was so large and such an intense colour that it looked more like a sun rise!
As it rose higher in the sky, the moonlight cast a shadowy tunnel of light across the rippled mudflats below and then the illusion became apparent. It really did look like there was a staircase leading right up to the moon. It was absolutely out of this world!
