Tobago is fondly known as the sister island of Trinidad, at a mere 26 miles by 7 miles it thrives on tourism. A visit to this little undiscovered gem will present you with some wonderfully hand-crafted trinkets and souvenirs to take home.
The shops – eh hem touristy huts that are gathered at the popular entrance to Store Bay houses a great deal of handicraft. There is an array of tie-dye t-shirts, shell jewelry, carved bamboo, colourful sarongs and everyday souvenirs.
Vendors line the walk way selling local fruits, drinks, home-made candies such as fudge, and coconut ice.(like Bounty) There are local bright red fruit preservatives such as pepper plums, sweet and pepper mango slices that offer visitors a culinary experience sure to awaken the taste buds.
It can be a busy area at times with changing rooms and fast food places in the area where you can eat al-fresco. So, take a leisurely stroll through the outdoor market place or like me shelter under the nearby trees, waiting for the hot Caribbean sun to go behind some clouds or set! You can find some unique pieces of jewellery or souvenirs for your friends and family from the little sister island known as Tobago.
