If you had to pass a test to enter the City of Bath, there would only be one question:
What would you rather….?
1) curl up in front of the telly with a cup of tea
2) brave the freezing fog and horizontal rain to watch the rugby
If your answer is the latter (or you wish to learn the errors of your ways), read on….
Rugby in Bath is as central to the general psyche there as the pitch is central to the city itself. If you can organise your trip to include a match, you will not come away disappointed.
The ‘Rec’ is wonderfully placed for some original views of this beautiful city and you’ll get to meet some of the locals that make Bath the gem that it is. Stoic supporters of 50 years or more are two a penny and this is reflected in the thrilling atmosphere during a match.
If you can’t get in, there are a few vantage points around the city from which you can watch a tackle or two (like across the river, just before Pulteney Bridge). Then, just follow the crowds when they emerge to the local watering hole and join in the celebrations!

Just paid my 3rd visit to Bath this past week ... even in the rain it's a great spot, with some beautiful B&Bs. Next time I will have to fit in a match!

I don't make it as often as I should to the Rec. They had some fireworks there last time I went.
