Langers's experience was in Pisa, Italy. She went on 26 of August 2007 for 2 days. She went for tourism, adventure, culture. Langers went with just me. She got there and around by train. langers's verdict is: recommended.

As I arrived at the station my leaning to Pisa wasn’t quite what I thought it might be. However, as I walked further into the maize of high housed streets real Pisa unfolded. It was a shopper’s paradise, with a mixture of big brand shops and quirky smaller places. This place brings a whole new enjoyment to window shopping!

The real highlight of the city comes when you enter the Campo dei Miracoli (translates as: fields of miracles), it has to be one of the worlds most beautiful squares. Home to the cathedral, the baptistery, the Camposanto and the leaning tower, this place is popular for a reason.

Never has architecture made me laugh out loud before. The leaning tower of Pisa is proof that even clever old architects can make mistakes!

I could have spent the whole day in this square, there’s shopping to do around the periphery and grass to sit back and relax on. The place is brimming with quirkiness, as people pose in a tai-chi stance in order to capture themselves on camera holding up the leaning tower.
In the evening I headed down Roma street, which leads off from the square. I sat in a little café and sipped a beer and watched Italians and tourists mingle through the evening light.

Pisa has a great atmosphere particularly around the square and the University. I would suggest choosing accommodation around this area rather than around the station, which is where I stayed.

Long live the lean of Pisa !

Pisa is very small compared to the nearby 'great' cities, but it's well worth a visit. If only for those incredible pastries! I hope you sampled a few...
