The Hollycombe Steam Collection, Hollycombe, nr Liphook, Hants ( by Jules in Liphook, United Kingdom )

The Hollycombe Steam Collection is probably one of the most important cultural venues in Hampshire. It is far more significant than, for example, Jane Austen's House in Chawton, which is basically an unimaginatively preserved cottage incorporating a rather lame and point-missing museum. Any reservations about the plight of the third world must be left at the door or the experience will be ruined. In other words, this is a holiday you must only take if you think you really deserve it. In my case, I felt that my wife deserved it, thereby trying to absolve myself of any guilt associated with my own enjoyment.

If you have children, this is the one. They will be entertained so much that they will never want to see you again - trapezeing, riding camels, learning clowning with real circus clowns and putting on two cabaret shows in the week. The rest of the time they eat, play and swim.

For the parents, all sorts of ...
