Jadelisa's travel blog in Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia. She went on 15 of August 2007 for 10 days. She went for beach, culture, food, shopping, peace & quiet. Jadelisa went with parents. She got there and around by car or van. Jadelisa's travel verdict is: you must go here.

Cable cars are not my friend. “You want to come hang with me, on a thin wire rope, in a little claustrophobic cabin, where you can’t get out unless you have suicidal tendencies?” Yes, of course. What fun it will be hanging with you, getting a sweat on and wanting to vom.

I don’t do heights. Well, I do them when I know nothing could snap or break, causing me to plummet 700 metres to my death. Yet still, last summer in Langkawi I found myself sat in a claustrophobic cabin, getting a sweat on, 700 metres above sea level. Do I listen to my own fears? Hmm... No it appears not.

Now in my experience of riding the cable cars at Alton Towers, they tend to just go along. And you don’t really start on the ground. You start, well, sort of up a bit. Well, not the Langkawi Cable Cars. These start on the ground. And then go up. Almost vertically for a distance of 2.2km.

The steepness of the wire as it takes you up along the side of the Matahari Face cliff is as mind boggling as it is terrifying. Those who are brave (or frankly stupid) can stand up and take in the views through the glass windows. For those whose stomachs are swaying along with the cabin and whose legs won’t move, you can keep your head down and wait ten nauseating minutes to appreciate the scenery from the viewing platform.

And appreciate you will, as the 360 degrees of uninterrupted views are just breathtaking. The aquamarine sea glistens in the distance like an open chest of jewels and the blanket of dense green rainforest below looks like it would cushion you should you fall from the platform that nestles amongst jagged cliffs. You’re so high up that the only thing likely to interrupt your view are clouds, so be sure to visit on a clear day for an experience that is quite magical, if a little stomach churning.

Those photos make the whole thing seem worth while. Those blues are almost 'too' blue....

Yeh the sea is really that blue, particularly if you go on a bright sunny day. I've been up 4 times. Bit mental, seeing as I'm terrified of the ride up, but the views are stunning.
