Hugo's travel blog in Pisa, Italy. He went on 16 of September 1989 for 1 day. He went for tourism, culture. Hugo went with a friend. He got there and around by walking, train. Hugo's travel verdict is: recommended.

Well, this proves all travel journals don't have to be long travel epics...

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

I don't actually have much more to add to this than the picture. The Leaning Tower of Pisa....well, it leaned.

In 1999 it was not possible to climb up the Leaning Tower itself but we were left to wonder at its imperfections from a distance. In fact I recall that there was quite a lot of speculation that this wonder of the semi-modern world was likely to keel over at any time. Anyhow, It was quite fun, if not entirely fulfilling. I understand that you can walk up it nowadays (he said without any bitterness). If you have been and experienced the authentic and dizzy climb then please do let me know if it is worth it...

Would you want to walk up it though, really? Kinda dangerous!?!

That shot looks like there is a helicopter or something to the right of the tower. Or was it just something on the lens?

Interesting shot of the the tower, by the way -- different to the normal perspective it's portrayed from.

interestingly, we spent about a month in Italy and never bothered to see this iconic structure because it has been so overexposed. we opted instead to spend more time in Florence and the coast. I do plan to see it someday, if for no other reason than to add a check next to it on my list of 'things-to-do-before-I-die'.

It's a shame Pisa doesn't have more to offer in terms of tourism. However, if I'd known the city had an abundance of UFOs I'd have wasted no time getting there. ;)
