Confession: I have never been to Antarctica. (Sorry to disappoint those of my friends who are avidly reading this thinking that I may have secretly nipped off last weekend.) Not so say I don't want to go but I'm afraid this is in many ways a fraudulent posting.
Ulterior motive: The fact is that no-one had posted any experiences for Antarctica. Despite a plea on the HoT blog; still no Antarctic travel experience and no Antarctica link showing on the homepage...time for action...time, in fact, to rustle up an Antarctic experience...
Imagine how suprised I was, when browsing YouTube, to find out that some nutters went wind surfing and skinny dipping when visiting the Antarctic...perhaps the perfect travel experience? Well, given that our naked travel experiences are strangely amongst some of the more popular travel experiences on the site I thought they may well be of interest....

I sailed to Antarctica, via the Falkland Islands, in Dec. 2002, ending up in Ushuaia, Argentina. I visited most of the places shown in the videos above and will post something soon. ~ Andrew, Sr. Editor + Producer, travel.latimes.com (Travel Cartel member)

Cheeky! If you've been to Antarctica, then I've been to Dagestan, Djibouti and Burkhina Faso...come to think of it, HAS anyone been to Burkhina Faso? There, the challenge has been thrown down....

I once represented Burkhina Faso at an MUN...that's not going to cut it is it? Antarctica? National Geographic does crazy expensive trips there that look singularly amazing if you have 10,000 euro or so to spare.

British Antartica Council...thats pretty much the only way to get there that i know of...but usually they only offer a 3 year contract to a heavily competed for post...that is when they are actually looking for someone!
