Hugo's travel blog in London, United Kingdom. He went on 27 of June 2009 for 1 day. He went because he lives here and for interest or hobby. Hugo went with just me, a group of friends. He got there and around by hitchiking. Hugo's travel verdict is: life changing.

From my armchair in London, I have found a great website called Kiva.org; their strapline is "loans that change lives".

It works on the micro-loan principle, helping local entrepreneurs (farmers, weavers, bakers - you name it) all over the world to lift themselves out of poverty.

I think it is neat and think you will too.

I have created a group on Kiva.org called "The Travel Group"; an opportunity for people who have travelled the world to give something back (sorry if that sounds cheesy!).

Please check-it out & if you like it then pass on the word:
http://www.kiva.org/team/travel_group_lenders

Kiva Facts:
- Not for profit
- Makes money from donations
- This is lending not donating to entrepreneurs
- In last week Kiva made: 1 loan every 11 seconds lending nearly $2m...

Travel Group Facts (at time of writing):
- 28 members
- 63 loans
- $1,775 lent
- Great feedback, esp from members who have got their kids to help choose who to loan to.

Happy travels (& lending maybe!)

Hugo
