Held annually at Ingliston near Edinburgh, Truckfest is an action packed open air event and this particular summer my friends and I managed to get tickets to watch some destruction.

Hollie-miller's travel blog in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She went on 13 of August 2006 for 1 day. She went for adrenaline. Hollie-miller went with a group of friends. She got there and around by car or van, walking. Hollie-Miller's travel verdict is: recommended.
We rode up in my boyfriends beat-up cavalier convertible dressed as “Hicksville” as possible. We wanted to see smashed up cars, stunts and sweeeet rides and we weren’t disappointed.
The main arena played host to a Monster Truck display and motorbike stunt rider, further into the field was the ‘best in show’ categories, with row upon row of mechanical beasts all vying for the top cash prize. These machines were cleaner smarter and more spacious than my own flat, very impressive.
I got to honk the horn on one truck all that was missing was my trucker cap and pot-belly!
There was a large area of market stalls selling all sorts of funky memorabilia and overpriced lager. My friend bought a child’s t-shirt which she happily squeezed herself into at a fraction of the cost.
Near the entrance there was a cool display of vehicles throughout the ages including police patrol units and armored vans. Along the west side of the field were the corporate stands with an impressive display by Volvo. They had set up an accident simulator of what it would be like to roll around in a cab, after beating the small children in the queue out of our way we happily rolled around getting bruised on the inside.
My personal favourite was The Crusher. As the line of unsuspecting cars sat innocently in the grass, the machine started up belching smoke and making a horrific metallic scraping noise. Down came the claw making short work of the cars windows, the crowd (led by us of course) began to chant as the car was smashed into the smallest cube of metal. Wooohooo, needless to say by the end of the day our voices were raspy.

It's one of those events advertised once a year like the circus and you always say; I need to go and then don't. My friends and I share a love of going to events were we can scream at the top of our lungs like hillbillies hehe!

Looks like classic US of A entertainment come to Scotland. What a fun looking experience. I think I could muster some excitement in watching "The Crusher" do its stuff.
