On my last trip in Europe I stayed overnight in Frankfurt, having images of quaint architecture and historic monuments I was surprised at how new and modern it is. It reminds me a lot of Glasgow with a main thoroughfare of shops and offices. It is very much a large city with a few places of historic interest still standing after the war.

Hollie-miller's travel blog in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She went on 12 of August 2007 for 1 day. She went for tourism. Hollie-miller went with a friend. She got there and around by walking. Hollie-Miller's travel verdict is: maybe for some, not me.
On venturing out of the hotel we migrated towards the Opera House following signs for the Operspiele (open day) which took place outside. It was an odd arrangement of activities for children with the focal point being a mechanical forklift unlike that used on a building sight lifting people up and down. You can’t argue with its popularity- look at the queue!
forklift fury
We were also lucky enough to catch the farmers market further in the city. This was more like my traditional thoughts on Frankfurt, we enjoyed wandering through the stalls and taking in the sights. The people were generally friendly and rather stylish, but that must be big city living.
We were walking down the main street when we came across a strip of artists and buskers. There were the usual Henna tattooists and hair braiders, some people had make shift stalls, some were painters, there were plenty of performers too.
Then we came across this guy who blew my mind.
He is blind in one eye, has an artificial leg and is holding himself up with crutches, not to mention his skill with that football. I gave him all the money I had.

Ah yes the beautiful airport. I don't know about you but we flew into Frankfurt Hahn which is like a two hour bus ride from the city- thanks Ryanair!
