Mauritius vs Seychelles ( by Go2Africa in Mauritius, Mauritius )

Simplifying Paradise
words by Emma Gass

Paradise in a neat package

So you're in the market for a paradise island holiday. You'll need the basics then: long, white, sandy beaches, warm turquoise waters, some palm trees, great seafood, exotic spices, tropical fruit you didn't
even know existed and excellent service.

The Indian Ocean Islands of Mauritius and the Seychelles have all the makings of the ideal tropical island getaway, but there is a common misconception that Mauritius and Seychelles offer a similar holiday experience.

We have made the process of choosing paradise a little simpler. All you need to do is determine who you are and what you need.

The Solitary Type

Mauritius is a solitary tropical island, almost entirely protected by a dynamic coral reef and lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. In comparison, one hundred and fifteen islands make up the Seychelles Archipelago. Some are government protected, some are privately owned and others are the size of a p...

Pafuri Camp - Learning about life in the Fever Tree forest ( by Go2Africa in Kruger national park, south africa, South Africa )

By Sandra Mallinson

Hurry up and wait

I woke up on Saturday to my flatmate’s heart-stopping words “Sandy, it’s 5.50am. Didn’t you say you needed to be at the airport by 6.15?”

The rest of my morning consisted of frantic rushing around, desperate pleading with the ground staff and a late arrival at O R Tambo Airport. I hunted down the Budget car rental office then spent the next three
hours waiting for one of my travelling companions whose flight had been cancelled.

Crossing the country

So began my first educational trip for Go2Africa. A pretty rocky start, but nothing could dampen my mood. I was on my way to Pafuri Camp. I’d seen the pictures and I couldn’t wait to get there.

We still had a way to go, however. Pafuri is in the Makuleke Concession, the most remote sector of The Kruger National Park. The camp does have its own airstrip, but we were going to drive. From Johannesburg it’s still around 6.5 hours by car, which seems a ridiculously long time until you...

Life in the slow-fast lane - 24 hours on a private-guided wine tour ( by Go2Africa in Stellenbosch, South Africa )

By Marco Monteiro_Silva

I looked over the carefully planned, week-long itinerary. French journalist, Anne-Claire would be covering all the Western Cape's famous estates for her contribution to GEO magazine's special 'wines of the world' edition.

Day four of her week-long itinerary kept catching my eye, promising a trip into a discrete and largely unknown wine region growing in popularity. Curiosity
got the better of me, and I decided to drop in on Anne-Claire for a 24hour slice of her Go2Africa private Miserable morning

Leaving the last of the industrial buildings and office blocks behind me, I carved along the rocky mountain pass. The cold Cape Town morning had made sullen promises of a miserable day, but climbing over Sir Lowry’s Pass I left behind the thick clouds and grey rain, and descended into a sunny blue day in Elgin – home to the Green Mountain Eco Route – the world’s first biodiversity wine route.

The drive from Cape Town had only taken an hour, giving me a fe...
