Glastonbury Sloppiness ( by corinaland in Glastonbury, United Kingdom )

Glastonbury was epic. Yes, it rained. Yes, it was a mud bath. But I'm by no means a clean freak. A good poncho, plenty of layers, adorable wellies (knee-high rubber boots, for you Yanks), and good hats sealed me up pretty well.

And who cares if your legs get disgusting, really?

I've now seen a completely nude man wrestling a bunch of other people, coated with chocolaty mud.

And rocked at a silent disco, where everyone wears headphones and listens to the same song. Oh yeah, and sings. So when you pull off the headphones you ONLY hear thousands of people singing. Awesome.

The highlights: The Hold Steady, Maximo Park, Cold War Kids, Kate Moss, Martha Tilston, some hilarious speeded out dude with a guitar, Chemical Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, hilarious cabaret dude, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall, Dirty Pretty Things, The View, The Magic Numbers, The Go Team, Mika, Mr. Scruff, Young Knives, Damien Marley

The disappointments: The Killers, The Kooks, The Fratellis, Babyshambles at all times w...

Mobile Clubbing (Silent Disco Flash Party!) ( by corinaland in Various Cities, United Kingdom )

Oh. My. Gosh.

I heard there were something called iPod parties and saw some video on youtube of everyone rocking out in a train station to their own music and emailed every English person I know. About a month later, Jackpot.

Here's the site: www.mobile-clubbing.com

When there are events they'll run across the page. The three images are clickable on the home page even though they don't look it.

The iPod flash party I went to was in a few cities all at once. I was in London at St. Paul's Cathedral. Just before the clock struck 6:46 pm I grabbed some gin and tonics from M&S then raced back to scream a countdown from 20 along with hundreds of other people. Then we danced our asses off for 1.5 hours, nonstop.

We were properly sweating.

I danced my earrings off. You can gage how far along in the night it is based on how many earrings I have in. Two, then one, then zero.

That's a great sign, y'all.

We danced and danced and danced. Some memorable tracks for me:

Cornwall Laziness ( by corinaland in Cornwall, united kingdom, United Kingdom )

We rented a car and a couple cottages in a teensy adorable little village. I think Crantock was the closest store, and that was a 30 minute walk down deserted winding country roads trimmed in rapeseed.

It was gorgeous and perfect.

Bright, hot, sunny days and crystal clear nights perfect for BBQs. Can't wish for much more.

In St. Ives, an adorable seaside village, pasty shops reign here. Pasties are flaky dough stuffed with cheese and onion, pork and apple, or the traditional steak, potato and ale. But apparently here they're PASTIES, not PASTRIES. Weird.

It's also the home of Cornish clotted cream (leading to the delish Cornish ice cream, the best ice cream in the history of ice cream) and perhaps Cornish hens. I can only assume on the latter.

The best part about it was the quiet. Walks were lazy and endless. It took about 30 minutes to make way to the beach (which sprawls forever during low tide). There were little cute gardens serving tea and scones, too.

We found the cottage...

Croatia: Noshing In a Beautiful Country that Doesn't Matter ( by corinaland in Croatia, Croatia )

The trip didn't start out incredibly auspiciously. On the plane, the guy beside me thought a shower was the way the devil got inside him. Egh.

Getting in, though, popped out of Zadar's teensy airport we caught the end of a dazzling pink sunset and hopped, eazy peazy-style, onto a bus that scoots us into the city.

When the bus stopped and an old creepy dude got on to ask if anyone wanted a sobe (room) for the night, we thought it was weird. Now we don't. More on that later.

We decided to do a ten-hour trip down to Dubrovnik (southern coast) for the first night because we got into Zadar late and didn't want to waste the night. What was supposed to be 8 hours of rest turned into about 2 with excited giggling about future trip plans and way too many hands of cards.

We got into Old Town Dubrovnik at around 6 am, and I have to say that's the best time possible -- before all the damn tourists get there. It's gorgeous, it is, but it became a swarm of fat Brits the next day at noon-ish.
