We rented a car and a couple cottages in a teensy adorable little village. I think Crantock was the closest store, and that was a 30 minute walk down deserted winding country roads trimmed in rapeseed.
It was gorgeous and perfect.
Bright, hot, sunny days and crystal clear nights perfect for BBQs. Can't wish for much more.
In St. Ives, an adorable seaside village, pasty shops reign here. Pasties are flaky dough stuffed with cheese and onion, pork and apple, or the traditional steak, potato and ale. But apparently here they're PASTIES, not PASTRIES. Weird.
It's also the home of Cornish clotted cream (leading to the delish Cornish ice cream, the best ice cream in the history of ice cream) and perhaps Cornish hens. I can only assume on the latter.
The best part about it was the quiet. Walks were lazy and endless. It took about 30 minutes to make way to the beach (which sprawls forever during low tide). There were little cute gardens serving tea and scones, too.
We found the cottages online and booked them over the phone directly with the owners, two very sweet ladies.
Granted, it’s not Ibiza, but it was relaxing as can be. You can’t get much easier, either – scan the net, make a call, show up. Lovely jovely.

very pleased to hear you loved Cornwall - although anyone who visited would - but have you never heard of 'pasties' as opposed to pastries? they're not even the same thing anyway!
still glad you enjoyed your time in my favourite county in the world!
